about me

Chanee Vijay is the designer and the maker behind {me}longings studio. She designs, hand prints and sews modern, eco-friendly textiles from her studio in Philadelphia. Chanee started {me}longings studio in March 2011 because she couldn't find pillows made with organically-grown fabrics in the chic, simple patterns and neutral color palette she likes for her home decor.

Specializing in surface pattern design, she developed her signature style of painting her designs on screens and hand printing them with water-based metallic inks on sustainably grown fabrics with rich textures. Her pillow covers are removable and washable, and made in small batches. Chanee subscribes to a slow design philosophy, so each hand-pulled screenprint and blockprint is created with regard for our health, the environment and longevity.

The designs from Chanee's 2012 Spring Collection are influenced by her travels across southern India. Chanee's new 2013 Spring/Summer collection reflects her adoration for the geometric and traditional shapes in her new city of Philadelphia.

Chanee's pillow covers have been featured in national and international publications, like Better Homes and Gardens, DIY Magazine, Style at Home, and Fete Press, and on the Nate Berkus show. Her textiles have been featured at West Elm in Charlotte, NC and Philadelphia, Studio K Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Art Star Craft Bazar in Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Art Alliance.
