Rather than ordering a vinyl banner as the sign for my tent at the outdoor Art Star Craft Bazaar {over Mother's Day weekend in Philadelphia}, I'm making a custom banner of my {me}longings logo out of hemp fabric.
1. I printed large outlined letters from my logo - one on each page - and cut out.
2. Using the paper letters, I traced the letters onto a 13 oz. off-white hemp fabric, and cut out the letters.
3. I spaced the letters across the banner fabric, and pinned them so they were evenly spaced.
4. Sewing the letters onto the fabric banner is proving to be very difficult. The banner fabric is a heavy 18 oz. hemp, so maneuvering the needle around the edges of the letters is a challenge. I chose a metallic silver thread to add a little shimmer to the sign, and I think it looks sharp. I'm not finished sewing the letters to the fabric banner, but hope to finish it early next week.
5. I plan to sew two pole pockets, and slide two sliver or gold painted 6-foot dowel rods across the top and bottom of the banner. The dowels will keep the banner open and make it easy to can hang it across the tent at the craft show.
I can't wait to show you the finished product and my pillow display at the Art Star Craft Bazaar on May 12 & 13th!
