Stylish? {me}? Plus, Some Blog Link Love

Such a sweet surprise, on Friday, wonderful Eleni, from My Paradissi, passed me the Stylish Blogger Award! Thank you so much, Eleni - I'm so flattered. You must visit Eleni's blog - she's got amazing taste - be prepared to drool.

This award gives me the opportunity to pass along the award to fifteen recently discovered blogs, and to finally kick off my official blog roll.

Another part of accepting the Stylish Blogger Award is sharing seven things about myself. So, let's sit down, pour some wine and get to know each other a little better.

1. I'm a decent cook, but I'm not good at using recipes. I don't have the patience for baking - it's too much like chemistry. I prefer cooking one pot meals from scratch with fresh, colorful whole foods - those power foods like avocado, spinach, beans, red pepper, berries and nuts. I make a mean veggie chili and a yummy potato soup. I'm a brat if I'm served something without color, or iceberg lettuce in a salad.

2. I believe there are people you are destined to meet and love. Even though my husband grew up in another country with a different culture and religion, when we finally met we had so much in common - our preferences, lifestyle, values, and ideas about the world. Just amazing!

3. There are many things I won't purchase, use or eat. I'll focus on two things that are glamorized and horribly harmful to our health, and then step down from my soapbox. The first, cleaning products with chlorine bleach. I use hydrogen peroxide-based cleaners instead to save my lungs and brain cells. The second, perfume. Most perfumes are made from chemicals, like Benzyl Acetate and Methylene Chloride, which are capable of causing cancer, birth defects, and central nervous system disorders. Instead, I opt for products that use plant-based scents and oils rather than petroleum. This includes soaps, lotions, shampoo, and air fresheners.

4. I believe in the "an apple a day" cliché - especially with peanut butter.

5. I wish I was more thoughtful and was consistent with my gift giving and writing of thank you notes.

6. I want to live abroad for a few years - and I imagine this happening when I have a toddler.

7. In fifth grade, my brother-in-law cut my hair into a mullet - like Rick Springfield’s. In my defense, he suggested it, and I decided that it would be cool if my hair looked just like his!

I'd like you to meet 15 stylish {& super creative} bloggers - visit them for inspiration, some laughs and friendship.  A dream dinner party guest list...that's what this is!  But with one additional guest, Eleni, from My Paradissi.
If they accept the award, they'll...
 + Thank and link back to the person that awarded them {me}
 + Share seven things about themselves.
 + Pay it forward to 15 recently discovered bloggers.
 + Contact those bloggers about the award!
