Nate Berkus is the Real Deal

I went to the Nate Berkus Show on Tuesday in NYC. Even though I was too nervous to sleep or eat before the show, I was still smiling ear to ear when I recognized and met my fellow design bloggers throughout the day.

I even met and got my photo taken with the super sexy Moggit Girls, Joy and Janet, but I won't dare post the photo because I'm smiling like a crazed chipmunk. Joy and Janet were the nicest and most inviting ladies in NYC that day - after all, they are Canadians!

The whole day was amazing. I could finally chat, in person, with the incredible personalities behind the blogs and Twitter handles that I'd come to love over the past few months. I soaked it all up.

I didn't have any grande expectations for the Nate Show taping, except that I knew the segments would be fun and entertaining - just like Nate. I'm just so happy he didn't tape one of his heart-wrenching "Nate's Crate" design segments - those always make me weepy!

Emily Henderson, the winner of Design Star {and a blogger} was there to help a couple de-clutter and redecorate using the "collections" from their home - a very funny piece. Emily was adorable. Project Runway's winner Christian Siriano was there to help accessorize and dress a young woman who had lost her job and gained a few pounds. He's always entertaining!
Me and my new sassy friends at The Nate Show: Christine, Vanessa, Sarah, Lisa and me

I was so happy when one of our fellow bloggers was featured in a segment. Susan's super cool NYC loft apartment was featured and she got to chat with Nate! Susan did an amazing job {calmly} talking about her entryway and kitchen designs. Bravo! Susan and her husband Will have a very chic blog called House of Brinson.

A lot of bloggers in the audience {like me} were filmed as they watched the show. The cameras were taping our reactions to the different segments. It was a little unnerving having a camera in my face while I watched, but that's all a part of the audience experience. I found myself in a similar situation when I went to the Ellen Show with my husband in 2009.

I can't wait to see the episode! Apparently, the segments taped with the blogger audience may be used in two different episodes. I'll let you know when the blogger show airs.

What about Nate?
He's the real deal, folks. So genuine, super talented, handsome and kind enough to give the design blogger audience a Q&A session after the tapings. We all whipped out our cameras and started filming.

Here's what Nate gave us that he didn't give the rest of his viewers...a little one on one {100}.

Sending huge HUGS to Camila and The Nest for planning a wonderful after party!

The blogger after party was a hit! Perfectly organized and hosted by Camila and The Nest.
I met many of the bloggers I didn't have a chance to meet at the Nate Show taping. It was a treat and a fantastic way to end the very long day.

  3. Oh my gosh Chanee - great post! I'm still laughing at the "crazed chipmunk" comment - I doubt if that's true. You are so adorable and Americans are pretty nice too!

  4. Oh wow! From reading many other posts, it seemed like Nate gave you all little or no attention at all! Glad to see that he actually did give you all the attention & praise you deserve.

As for the show not being a "blogger themed show": I can tell you as someone who's working behind the scenes for a web/tv series right now, EDITING is everything. And I highly doubt that the valuable time Nate spent speaking to you all will go unused. It looks like to me that could be turned into something great!

Glad you enjoyed yourself - take care! ;)
